On Wednesday around 2pm the SWIX office exploded in uncontrollable laughter: the Old Spice guy had arrived. Spending a few minutes checking out the personalized videos (ok, so we spent maybe a LITTLE more time then that) delivered by the handsome and oh- so-eloquent Old Spice Man played by Isaiah Mustafa, we agreed that this had to be one of the best Twitter campaigns ever. That afternoon all the videos were around 300 views, which is pretty exciting for only a few hours. What we decided to do is quickly set up some SWIX pods to track the Old Spice YouTube channel, Twitter Account and a few of the earliest customized videos and see what happened. We set up several pods, here's a look at some that were among the first: The Ellen Show, Apollo Ono and "un-celebrity" rahnyc4.

The SWIX pods are displayed with a focus on the change, rather then the totals. Its astounding to see, over the span of three days, an increase of 1.22M views on the Old Spice channel and approximately 46,200 new Twitter followers. The question still remains though, will this social media campaign result in actual sales for Old Spice? Will it continue to be viral past the two days that the videos were recorded?
What we liked about this campaign was that it amalgamated several social media platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter and responded to commentary posted from each one. Best of all, the Old Spice Man shares his love with everyone- doesn't matter if you're Alyssa Milano, Jason Calacanis, Perez Hilton, Gizmodo or just simply any old person behind a computer- he doesn't discriminate and that is what makes him straight up awesome.
