The Mac OSX Dashboard is a very cool part of the Mac OS. Today I created a SWIX widget out of a tracking pod, just to see how it would look.
Looks great! Here's a pod, converted to a dashboard widget:
and here's a report graph, converted to a widget:
For those of you Mac users who don't already know, creating these widgets is built into Safari. Just use the scissors icon to start the selection process and cut out a rectangle of the page to use as your widget:
Here's a couple of usage notes:
- Every time you open your dashboard, the widgets will reload, showing you the latest data
- The best pods and graphs to use are from your SWIX shared pages (i.e. you have turned sharing on for that campaign). This is because the widgets won't be smart enough to log into SWIX as you – so it's best to use them with public pages, with no password.
- You can create widgets out of any part of SWIX (i.e. not your public shared pages), but they will break if you log out of SWIX with your browser, until you log in again.
Enjoy!
